Waxing

A practical way to remove unwanted hair for many weeks at a time.

Waxes Used
Using either warm or hot wax the entire hair is removed cleanly. Depending on which part of the body the hair is being removed from will denote which type of wax is used.

Warm wax is used on the leg, arm or large areas, delivered from a roller cartridge for speed and accuracy and less mess.

Hot wax is excellent for removing coarser hairs on the bikini or underarm area eliminating much of the discomfort that some people experience.

Comfort or Discomfort
Some people find waxing quite an uncomfortable affair, some say it smarts but is tolerable whilst other simply sit there and don’t bat an eyelid (lucky them!).

To help with the discomfort there are a few things that may help:

  • If required, I can use a light anesthetic spray just prior to waxing. It is a peppermint based spray that just takes the edge off any discomfort.
  • Paracetamol if taken 30 minutes before your appointment.
  • Hormonal, depending on where you are in your cycle, will have a reflection on the level of discomfort.
  • Regular waxing does make for a less painful experience, the body simply gets used to it and the hair to be removed is not full length.

Finally I take my time to make sure you are comfortable. I won’t rush, known as speed waxing, unless of course you want me to. I will soothe the area as I go along. If you want to wax an area you have never had done before, I’m happy to do a patch test so you can see what it feels like first, before making that commitment. Invariable people are happy to carry on, having realized it wasn’t so bad.

Slowing Down Hair Regrowth
Known as hair retardant, this is sprayed onto the waxed area directly after waxing. It is then applied for the next 4 days as homecare. Over time the hair retardant slows down the hair regrowth resulting in longer time between appointments.

Other Waxing Products Used
A pre-wax Tea Tree skin cleanser is used prior to waxing to help prevent skin irritation and ensure good wax application and hair removal. The post wax lotion moisturises the area and leaves skin feeling silky smooth and soothed. In areas on the face where redness may be a problem I use Environ Anti-oxidant gel, from the Environ Skincare Range. This reduces the redness better than anything else I have used. One for the home medicine chest too.
